WABA's 75th Anniversary and Cornerstone Award Banquet

This city is known worldwide for building aircrafts. And our members built this city. On April 24, we celebrated 75 years of our members providing the American Dream to residents in the Air Capital of the World and across south-central Kansas. Thank you to everyone who attended to be a part of WABA’s history. It was bittersweet as we tributed the memory of Wess Galyon while recognizing the efforts that he, alongside some of our revered members such as John McKay, Jim Goentzel, and Dave Sproul, made over decades to shape this organization. We appreciated having so many special guests in attendance, including guest speakers Mayor Lily Wu, and Congressman Ron Estes. We want to once again recognize the achievements of Brandon Salisbury (Sharp Homes), and Eric Gilbert (Artistic Builders / Liberty Communities). And congratulations to Bob Cook (Bob Cook Homes) on being named this year’s Wess Galyon Cornerstone Award honoree. Thank you to Carl Harris and Buddy Hughes, the two immediate past chairmen of the National Association of Home Builders Board of Directors, for attending last night and sharing their insights from visiting with homebuilders all over the country. And thanks to Tim Shigley for moderating the discussion as well as recognizing all of WABA’s Past Presidents/Chairmen. We are the Wichita Area Builders Association, and we are Built To Last. Let’s keep the celebration going throughout 2026.
