DESCRIPTION:Wichita Area Builders Association to Name Office Building in Honor of Wess Galyon \nWICHITA\, Kan. — The Board of Directors of the Wichita Area Builders Association (WABA) has unanimously voted to name its office building the Wesley E. Galyon Building\, honoring Galyon’s lasting impact and dedicated service to the Association\, and the home building industry. \nA naming dedication ceremony will take place on Friday\, February 27\, at 9:00 a.m. at the Wichita Area Builders Association office. The ceremony is open to the public\, and members of the media are encouraged to attend. Several dignitaries and honored guest will be present to share remarks\, including Jim Tobin\, CEO of the National Association of Home Builders. \n“This building dedication reflects the deep appreciation and respect our membership has for Wess\, and his four decades of leadership at this Association and in our community” said Tyler York\, President & CEO of WABA. “It is a fitting tribute that will serve as a lasting reminder of his service and commitment.” \nAdditional details about the ceremony and open house are available by contacting the Wichita Area Builders Association. \n\n\n\nBackground\n\n\n\nFounded in May 1951\, Wichita Area Builders Association represents professionals across the residential building industry and associated industries in south central Kansas\, promoting advocacy\, education\, workforce development\, and community engagement. Wesley “Wess” Galyon was hired as WABA’s President & CEO in 1986. He led a capital campaign at the turn of the century\, along with Steve Robl and other senior members at the time\, which led to the financing and construction of WABA’s headquarters. The building was completed and opened in 2001. WABA’s Board of Directors named Galyon as President Emeritus in March 2025. Galyon plans to retire on February 27\, 2026.
