The Home Builders Care Committee is a new Committee of the Association established under the auspices of the Spike Club for the purpose of providing support to the community through involvement with civic organizations and special projects that contribute to the betterment of the lives of citizens in the community.

Members of the Committee have agreed to present, along with ABODE Home, and the Kansas Humane Society, an event called BARKitecture, designed to raise needed funds for the Kansas Humane Society. BARKitecture is a unique, unusual and fun architectural competition where the area's top designers and builders are challenged to build a stylistic and functional ABODE for our animal friends. All proceeds benefit the Kansas Humane Society's Capital Campaign for their new shelter. Located at K96 and Hillside as part of the Murfin Animal Care Campus, this new state of the art facility will help the Kansas Humane Society achieve their vision to save the life of every adoptable animal in our community.

All ABODES will be displayed during the Humane Society's Annual Woof Stock event on October 4, 2008 and will then be auctioned off at a special BARKitecture Bash and Meow Mixer, on October 17, 2008. Tickets are on sale now at the WABA office or online at www.barkitecture.com . There are many ways to get involved and we hope many of you will participate and support both our Home Builders Care program as well as the Kansas Humane Society.
